DC Motors and AC Motors

DC Motors

dc motorDc motors is powered by direct- current electricity which has an electronically controlled communication system. Current and torque, Voltage and Rpm are linearly related to a Dc Motor.

Dc Motors have no iron loss, no cogging or preferred rotor position. Dc Motors are low in current consumption. Dc Motors are light and compact. Dc Motors have an accurate speed, position and torque control.

Applications:
  • Brushed Dc Motors- toys
  • Small consumer appliances
  • Brushless Dc Motors- Computer hardware
  • CD/DVD player
  • Pc cooling fans
  • Low speed Brushless Dc Motors – direct drive turntable
  • High power Brushless Dc Motors- electric vehicles,
  • Hybrid vehicles
  • Industrial machinery

AC Motors

There is a different variety of Ac motors namely Brake motors, Gear motors, Gear combination, Single phase capacitor motor ,tree phase motor, Ac Motors (Induction) and a Ac Motor (Synchronous). AC Motors (Induction) uses a supplied external capacitor to startup the motor. And the Ac Motor runs at a speed that the load determines.
Ac Motor (Synchronous) runs at a speed regardless the load and has an external resister and capacitor for startup. The Ac motors are solidly designed and are maintenance free for life.

Applications:
  • Synchronous- traction motors
  • Industrial
  • Scientific devices
  • Low torque Ac Motors- traffic lights
  • Advertising-lighting controllers
Specifications:
  • Three-phase Ac motors 30 switching cycle/min
  • Single-phase Ac Motor 60 switching cycle/min
  • Terminal box cover, can be turned by 4x90o
  • Power up to 240 watts
  • Body size 60mm – 50mm
  • Torque 5.38 – 1699 ounce- inches
